The woods - a poem
66The woods - my muse, inspiring songs of love beauty and dreams
Nature in all her beauty fills us with peace. It is heaven on earth to be in the woods, among the flowering trees, brightly colored canopies. The birds, the bees, the squirrels and other creatures of the woods seem to speak the language of peace and harmony. The colors, the sights and the sounds of the woods are enough to make this earth seem like heaven with its peace and serenity. In the busyness of city life, just closing your eyes and bringing this picture of nature to your mind is enough to calm your frazzled nerves.
As I lie down on the carpets of flowers that is spread out by nature, she becomes my muse and inspiration seems to flood my mind, with songs of love, of beauty and peace. What more could I want?..This is Heaven on Earth indeed. As for me I just want to go back again and again to taken in the sights, smells and listen to the voice of nature... I am sure you would like to join me in my journey...
A colorful shower of the falling leaves,
A sight breathtaking to behold;
A harbinger of tenderness,
That is to sprout, in green, yellow and gold.
Sifting the rays with its verdant canopy
While shimmering in the sun,
Playing, swinging and swaying around,
Until, shadows can be found.
Filtering out the grime and dust,
Spreading sweetness all around,
Home to every flying bird,
And, echoing their sweetest sounds.
Play poles are the tallest trees
To every squirrel striped and grey,
Indulgently spreading out their trapeze
For them to leap around in play!
Fluttering sounds and flapping wings,
Of parrots, koels, mynahs and bees;
The sound of silence in the woods,
Speaking the language of peace!
Emerald, jade and shimmering leaves
Now give way to bud and bloom:
Yellow, orange, red and white
Purple, pink and hyacinth light!
A carpet of flowers
Mornings make for carpets soft,
And scintillating sights!
Birthing dreams, poems and love songs
From the heart that is so light!
Oh, my own little woods,
My nook of peace, quiet thought and solace;
Far as I am, I just close my eyes
And there you are in my mind!
My treasure trove of pleasant smells and sights
Nostalgic memories so tranquil,
I wait for the day that I can come back,
And once again experience this thrill!

cool, it was a pleasure to read the poem, my hear has been filled with freshness and I liked the way you used the images.
Lovely poem, and awesome pics. Thank you!
Great Poem! Reminds me of Claude Monet the Impressionist. Like the impressionists you thoroghfully paint the colours and your impressions with your word. Monet once said:“For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life - the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value.” Well, I think its a very interestning mystery when the subjective meets with its sourounding and its places.
Thanks!
Hi nice to meet you. This is a beautiful piece of poetry which was written from the heart thank you for sharing.
Well, did you ever make it back? Nice writing here. Always glad to find another poet.
Sofs very nice poetry. It paints a picture of happiness in the beauty of nature.
Dear Sofs,
You tell me that you are not a poet, although poets through thousands of years have cried, prayed and struggled for the chance of having: “poetry flow from my heart”. Many successful artist often say it just came to me it wasn’t me, it was a divine inspiration. Master of literature in royal academies and Nobel Prize winners may fully master the way words are supposed to be put together and have an outstanding vocabulary in several languages and still they will envy you the gift of letting poetry flow. Do never trade that gift for anything!
Bless You!
wow that truly is beautiful. Poets love trees, and birds and all thing bright and beautiful of course. It's strange as i have just been cutting out leaves on my cutting machine, to use in crafts. Autumn is a beautiful time of year colour wise, It seems to bring out everyones creative streak. I love your work, the photo at the beginning and the photos of the birds, are a delight to behold, very well done, see you in the forums
